Does alcohol decrease the effectiveness of contraceptive pill?
"There are women who enjoy 'sex' and 'responsible drinking' and who don't wish to be pregnant. However, these women are often afraid to combine drinks with pills because a myth exists that intake of alcohol reduces the effectiveness of the pill. The facts are, of course, different from the myths surrounding the use of contraceptive pills. As a matter of fact, only 1 out of 100 women who use the pill is at the risk of getting pregnant if the pill is used properly. If there are a couple of missed pills on the list, around 3 out of 100 can get pregnant. These rates, however, are not changed by the use of alcohol."
